This personal project is about the the small mining town of Butte, Montana - also known as "Butte, America."

In its heyday, around the 1890’s, thousands of people immigrated to Butte, which at the time, was touted as the “Richest Hill on Earth” due to the bonanza of metals from underground mining. Today, the town is home to a Superfund site, and its growth and vitality are impeded by the mining legacy.

Still, it's a tight-knit community; one that is, in large part, composed of and defined by descendants of the immigrants

who flocked to the area during the mining boom days.
